“I know the scenery is going to be nice, but please try to actually get some pictures of you.” That was the last thing my boyfriend told me before dropping me off for a 3-week walk.
I was fully immersed in getting a picture of the view when my GPS watch went off signaling I had completed my first mile. It suddenly occurred to me to do something I never do to commemorate this: take a selfie.
When my watch went off again for the second mile, I decided to make a thing of it as a cheeky way to be able to fulfill that promise. By the end of my hike, compiling over 200 miles of selfies into a video was one of the few things I was looking forward to back in the real world.
